This painted and glazed earthenware figure of General Sir Colin Campbell mounted on a horse was made in Staffordshire in England around 1860. Campbell commanded the Highland Brigade in the Crimean War, was ennobled - as Lord Clyde - and subsequently became a Field Marshal.

This inexpensive ornament was one of series of portrait figures produced by Staffordshire potteries in the second half of the 19th century.
