made in Florence, Italy
This maiolica jar was made around 1902 at the Cantigalli factory in Florence in Italy.
The jar is painted with flowering stems in polychrome on white ground. The underside is painted with a cockerel and '6'.
The Cantigalli factory was one of the many factories that specialised in producing 16th-century imitations in the second half of the 19th century. The factory was founded by Ulisse and Giuseppe Cantigalli and is still in production today.
