These four ceremonial wooden batons, painted with the inscription 'United Goldsmiths', were thought to have been carried by members of the Incorporation of Goldsmiths at the Reform Act Jubilee Procession in Edinburgh in August 1832.

Edinburgh had its own Incorporation of Goldsmiths at this time. Goldsmiths from other towns were usually members of the Incorporation of Hammermen (those who used hammers in their trade).
