This clear glass vase dates from around 1937. It was designed by Keith Murray and made by Stevens and Williams Ltd of Brierley Hill in the West Midlands of England.

The vase is wheel-engraved with decoration depicting thistle-down. It bears the acid-etched mark 'Keith Murray / BRIERLEY'.

The English glass industry between the two World Wars remained very conservative, adopting none of the new techniques of colouring and decoration which had been discovered in Europe and North America.
