Drug jar
This maiolica drug jar was made in the 1550s at Castel Durante in Italy.
The jar is decorated in polychrome with armorial trophies, scrolling foliage, dolphins, sphinxes and a wreathed bust. The inscriptions on the scrolled labels read 155-', 'amate dio' [Love God] and 'Fatte nel Durante' [made in the (Castello?) Durante].
