made in Wick, Caithness
This glass tumbler was designed in 1963 by Domhnall OBroin and made in 1965 by Caithness Glass Ltd of Wick.
The cylindrical tumbler is made of clear colourless and greyish-olive-green glass. The design is called 'Scaraben'.
In the 1960s, British glass manufacturers were slow to follow the lead of their more innovative Scandinavian contemporaries. British artists experimented little with actual glassmaking, but continued the long national tradition of engraved decoration.
