These light shades were designed in 1901-2 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. They were formerly in 14 Kingsborough Gardens in the west end of Glasgow, a terraced house decorated and partially remodelled by Mackintosh.
The pendant light shades are made of sheet alloy and were suspended from a chain. They have open and pierced sides with glazed panels.
These light fitting compare with Mackintosh's earlier (1900-1) design ideas drawn up for competition by a German magazine for a 'House for an art lover'.
