Soup plateThis transfer-printed earthenware soup plate was made by the Glasgow potters, J. and M.P. Bell and Company. It was exported to South East Asia and collected there. The design for this plate was registered in 1853. The pattern is called 'VICTORIA SCROLL'. The centre shows a bunch of flowers with ribbons. The border pattern consists of three groups of naturalistically depicted poppies and corn. Some of Bell's exported plates can still be found in the bazaars and markets of South East Asia.
