Cup (2 of 2)
This shows the front of a red earthenware cup, probably made at Alloa Pottery in Clackmannanshire. The cup dates from the 1890s.
The motto reads 'Mak' yersel' at hame'.
In the second half of the 19th century, 'couthy' motto ware was very popular. Another pottery producing such ware at this time was the Cumnock Pottery in East Ayrshire, originally established by James Taylor in 1794.
