Brooch (back), given to Mary McPhail, nurse of Alexander McKenzie

This is the back of a silver brooch gifted to Mary McPhail by Alexander McKenzie. Mary was Alexander's nurse, and the brooch was given to her in 1760, in recognition of her nursing services.

The back is inscribed with the maker's mark, 'L & R'. The surrounding text reads, 'The Gift of Alexr McKenzie to Mary McPhail his Nurse, 1760'.
