Colour woodblock print, ukiyo-e

The title page and first print of a full set of 36 views of Mt Fuji by Hiroshige (Fuji san-ju-rokkei. They are signed Hiroshige and published by Tsutsu-ya Kichizo with a censor mark aratame and dated horse 4= 1858. The title page is dated Sheep 6=1869.

This title page has a list of contents and a preface against a background of cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, maple leaves and a stream. The first of the set of 36 prints on the left is of Fuji seen from the one stone bridge with a timber yard in front.
