Colour woodblock print, ukiyo-e

Diptych of two actors signed Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi and published by Yenshu-ya Hikobei with a restricted sale seal, Shita-uri. The censors were Mera and Watanabe and there is a date seal for Rat 3 (1552)

This diptych shows the Kabuki actors Bando Shuka as Shira Ito of Hashimoto-Ya on the left and Sawamura Sojoro 1V as Suzuki Shusui on the right in a scene from Sumidagawa, Sumida river produced at the Ichimura theatre in the third month of Kayei 5 1852.
