RecordRing brooch (back)< 1 of 1 > Back made in Inverness
Ring brooch (back)A ring brooch is a simple ring of brass, bronze or silver with a free swivelling pin. This is the back of a silver ring brooch made in Inverness by Thomas Borthwick around 1775. The back is inscribed with the initials 'IM' and 'IMR'. Inverness craftsmen used a variety of town marks, including simple contractions such as INS or INVS. More picturesquely, from the mid-18th century a camel appears, taken from the town arms. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
