This earthenware bowl was decorated by Jessie M. King in the 1940s. King tended to decorate blanks purchased from factories.
The bowl is painted with a band of running deer in brown on blue.
By the end of the 19th century Glasgow School of Art was central to the development of female artistic talent in Scotland. Jessie M King (1875-1949) taught at the school.
