Advertising token (reverse), of Waverley Electric Works, Portobello, Edinburgh

This is the reverse of a brass advertising token of the Waverley Electric Works in Portobello in Edinburgh. The token dates from the 1895.

The reverse contains a 'Dessaus' calender for the year 1895.

Electric street lighting began to replace gas in the 1890s, and by the early 20th century electric-powered trams were running in some cities.
