Medal (Obverse), commemorating Opening of Dunfermline Swimming Baths, FifeThis is the obverse of a silver medal commemorating the opening of swimming baths in Dunfermline in Fife in 1905. The baths were funded by the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust. The design on the obverse features two lions guarding a tower. The inscriptions read 'Let There be Light' and 'The Carnegie Dunfermline Trust Swimming Baths'. Dunfermline-born Andrew Carnegie directed part of the vast fortune he had made in the USA into trusts to provide public facilities in his native town and throughout Britain.
