This is the obverse of a silver medal of Benjamin Mackay's Latin Academy in Edinburgh. The medal was made by Edinburgh silversmiths W. & P. Cunningham and awarded to William Seller in 1814.
The obverse bears an image of a young man with a book in his hand. Above is the Latin inscription 'Omnibus Patet Via Honoris'.
William Seller later became a lecturer in Materia Medica at the University of Edinburgh.
