This is the reverse of a silver medal of Queen's Park Football Club. Made by D Cunninghame, the medal was awarded in 1883 for amateur athletic sports, an event which the leading Glasgow football team organized.
The reverse is decorated with a laurel wreath with the text above, 'AMATEUR ATHLETIC SPORTS'. The centre is left blank for the recipient's name.
Athletic sports were more often seen in the Highlands than the Lowlands before 1830. By 1860 athletics were common, and games days were often organized by existing sports clubs.
