Cloak (detail), of Buchanan tartanThis detail shows a section of a woman's woollen cloth cloak woven in the Buchanan tartan. Dating from around 1800-10, the cloak was worn by the donor's great-grandmother. Woman's cloak with a cape, armholes, belt and standing collar, made of hard woollen cloth, woven with the Buchanan tartan: Scottish, about 1800 - 1820 Tartan became one of the most successful products of the Scottish textile industry.
