This earthenware ashet was made in the mid 19th century, possibly by John Thomson at Annfield Pottery in Glasgow or Joseph Twigg of Swinton in Staffordshire.
The octagonal ashet has a transfer-printed design called Ivanhoe, depicting a scene from Walter Scott's novel. The base is marked 'IVANHOE / J T / 16 / D'.
