This enamelled bronze disc brooch was found at the site of the Roman fort at Newstead in Roxburghshire. It dates from between 80 and 180 AD.
The round disc brooch has enamel decoration. It is damaged and somewhat corroded.
Brooches were used to fasten clothing, and are understandably a common find on Roman sites. Disc brooches found in Britain were often decorated with enamel or inlaid glass.
