Seal impression (cast)This is a 19th century sulphur cast of a seal impression. The impression was made from the 3rd seal of Trinity College Church in Edinburgh, dating from the late 16th century. The seal depicts a church over a shield. The inscription 'S. ECCLIA : COLLEGIATA. SANCT TRINITATIS PROPE. EDINBVRG' identifies the church. The gold border is modern cardboard trim. Trinity College Church was founded by Mary of Gueldres in 1462 as a memorial to her husband James II. The choir and transepts were completed in 1531.
