This bronze spearhead was found at Balmaclellan in Kirkcudbrightshire. It dates from between 950 and 750 BC.
The leaf-shaped blade has a rounded midrib. There are two peg holes in the socket for the attachment of the wooden spear shaft which has not survived.
Warriors had a major social role in their society and displayed their status through fancy weapons.
