Cake stand (2 of 2)This porcelain cake stand, also known as a comport, was made between 1842 and 1880 by the Glasgow potters J. and M.P. Bell & Company. The picture shows how this cake stand has a low foot with a large circular base. This company, which became one of the biggest and best known potteries in Scotland, was founded by the brothers John and Matthew Perston Bell and was in production by 1842.
