Bicycle, ArgyleThis ladies' bicycle was made in Glasgow in 1943 by the Glasgow Cycle Co. Ltd. Unusually, it was produced for the civilian market during the war. When it was given to the first owner as a Christmas present, it came with wooden pedal 'rubbers' and cardboard handlebar grips, both of which were typical wartime economies. The black-painted bicycle has roller lever brakes. A transfer on the steering head bears the maker's name, and there are remains of a transfer on the rear mudguard. The marque name is 'Argyle' and was one of several makes produced by the Glasgow Cycle Co. Ltd. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
