made in Perth
This glass bowl was made at Vasart glassworks in Perth between 1946 and 1964.
The small, round, deep glass dish has a milky purple lip forming two handles. The body fades into white. It is unmarked.
In 1946, Salvador, Vincent and Augustine Ysart left John Moncrieff's glassworks in Perth to start their own glassworks. The name Vasart was derived from 'Vas', their initials, and 'art' from Ysart. In 1956, the name was changed to Vasart Glass Ltd and in 1964 Wm Teachers & Sons became the major shareholders and moved the glassworks to Crieff under the name Strathearn Glass Ltd.
