This silk woman's bonnet from Persia dates to 1646, and is embroidered with coloured silk threads.

The bonnet is made of apricot coloured silk woven in twill weave. On it is depicted a young woman seated among flowering trees, woven in pink, green, white, black silks. An inscription is woven onto the bonnet in Persian naskh script, using black silk thread. It gives the date and weaver's name: '1056 AH; Mu'in Musawwir'. The lining of the bonnet is of coarse red cotton with a design of large flowers couched in silver thread.
