RecordGarment (fragment)< 1 of 1 > Back made in Iraq
Garment (fragment)This fragment is from a silk garment made in Iraq, perhaps in Baghdad, during the 9th century. The fragment is woven with silks, silver and gold threads and shows a pattern of octagons containing cockerels and framed by borders of stylised flower heads. These are set against a background of decorative bands made up of stylised stars and octagons. Other fragments of this material are held by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
