BowlThis footed bowl of stone paste frit ware dates to the late 13th or 14th century and was made in Persia. The bowl is painted in black outlines on a white ground and filled with light blue and grey under a clear glaze. On the interior is a fox-like animal among leafage. The exterior is decorated in black and blue with an all over pattern consisting of dots and lines. This bowl belongs to a group that is still often termed 'Sultanabad' after the city in Iran where pieces of this type first came to light. The decoration and colour scheme of the bowl reveal Eastern influences which came to the fore in Iran after the Mongol invasion of the country during the later 13th century.
