This shell-shaped dish was made at Belfield's at Prestonpans in East Lothian. It dates from the late 19th century.
The dish stem is formed from three fish on a circular base.
Belfield's Pottery was established by Charles Belfield in the mid-1830s. By the mid-19th century the pottery was employing between 20 and 40 people. The business remained a family concern and continued until the mid-20th century. Belfield's is best known for high quality earthenware, particularly its Rockingham teapots and coffee pots, maiolica ware and everyday kitchen ware.
