This baby's anti-gas helmet was issued in 1939. The baby was to be strapped inside the helmet, supported on its metal frame. The rubber bellows at the side passed air into the helmet after passing it through the gas filter.

During World War II, different types of gas protection were provided for the use of people who could not wear the standard gas mask issued to all civilians by the government.
