made in Glasgow
This earthenware mug, pictured here on its side, was made by David Lockhart and Company of Glasgow in the second half of the 19th century. A yellow frog is attached to the inside of the mug.
The mug has been transfer-printed with a pattern called 'Millport' which includes scenes of fishing boats.
From about 1750 until the 1930s Scotland's potteries were producing utilitarian and decorative wares for home and foreign markets. David Lockhart & Sons ran the Victoria Pottery in Pollokshaws, Glasgow from between around 1866 and 1876.
