Add to albumThis earthenware dinner plate was made by the Societe Ceramique of Maastricht in Holland. It dates from the early 20th century and was collected in Surabaya in Java in Indonesia.
It has been sponge-printed and hand-painted in black, red and yellow. This type of decoration is similar to that used by many Scottish potteries including J. & M.P. Bell of Glasgow and some of the Kirkcaldy potteries.
