RecordCollection plate< 1 of 1 > Back associated with 'Asociate Congregation in East of Fife'
Collection plateThis church collection plate was made in 1743 by Alexander Wright, a pewterer based in Edinburgh. Wright was made a freeman of the Incorporation of Hammermen in 1732 and was working as a pewterer in the 1770s when his shop was in Edinburgh's West Bow. The rim is engraved 'BELONGING TO THE ASOCIATE CONGREGATION IN EAST OF FIFE'. In the centre is a star-shaped device engraved and chased with leafy arabesque ornament and surrounded by a circular border formed of leaves. The Associate Congregation was one of the groups that broke from the established Church of Scotland at the original secession in 1733.
