A quaich is a traditional Scottish drinking vessel. This pewter example is dated 1671.
The quaich has a circular bowl with very slightly everted lip and projecting handles. The date is scratched on one handle, the owner's initials 'I.L.' on the other.
Quaichs are usually made of wood or silver; pewter quaichs such as this are rare.
