JugThis earthenware jug was made at James Jamieson & Co.'s pottery at Bo'ness in Falkirk district. It dates from the mid 19th century. The jug has been relief moulded with an image of a peacock standing in grass. The upper reaches of the Forth valley were home to several important pottery factories. The thriving port of Bo'ness had a brownware pottery by 1766, while whiteware was added by Dr Roebuck in 1784. The Bo'ness pottery continued in operation until 1899.
