RecordCandlestick (1 of 2)made in Britain
Candlestick (1 of 2)This tin candlestick dates from the early 19th century. The candlestick is stamped on the base 'BRITISH MAKE / (B?)OUTTERWARE'. It has an attachable reflector hood (not shown here) for throwing a beam of light. The rim on which the hood rests serves as a conventional drip tray when the hood is removed. The barrel shaft of the candlestick contains a spring which presses the candle up as it burns down, thus keeping the flame at a constant level.
