This iron casket and key were found in the ruins of Cambuskenneth Abbey in Stirlingshire. They date from the 15th century.
The casket is decorated with Gothic buttresses and pierced work at the corners and ends. The arched top has a slit for money. This is guarded inside by a piece of iron mail and a few brass links, all fastened to a copper rim.
