Mug, with view of Abbotsford House

This glass mug with sand-blasted view of Abbotsford House was made by J. Ford & Co. of Edinburgh in around 1875.

Below the view of Abbotsford House, the mug is inscribed 'Alexandra Mary Limont'.

Abbotsford was the home of Sir Walter Scott. At Abbotsford Scott tried to create a romantic 'Medieval' castle, drawing on all his interests in Scottish history.
