BroochThis enamelled bronze brooch was found at site of the Roman fort at Camelon in Stirlingshire. It was probably made in the north-west provinces of the Roman empire sometime between 80 and 165 AD. Brooches such as this one were expensive items. The plate brooch is in good condition, although some of the end knobs are damaged. The Roman army obtained supplies from three zones: locally (either by the army or natives), within the Roman province of Britannia, or further afield in the Roman empire.
