Add to albumThis hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Mode Illustreé, a fashion magazine published in Paris. The plate dates from 1865 and illustrates two day dresses, one with a hat and one with a bonnet.
The plate is signed, 'Héloïse Leloir' in the bottom right hand corner and 'Bonnard' in the bottom left.
La Mode Illustreé first appeared in 1860 and was one of the most important fashion magazines of the second half of the nineteenth century. It was also one of the first magazines to include articles on underwear.
