Add to albumThis hand-coloured fashion plate is from La Gazette Rose Illustrée, a fashion magazine published in Paris. The plate illustrates two ball gowns and is dated 14 January, 1882.
The signatures on the plate are not clear, but could be those of Jules David, and E. Tailhaud.
Jules David (1808-1892) drew fashion plates for the French publication - Le Moniteur de la Mode - from 1843 until 1892. The plates were subsequently issued in many other European magazines. In 1894, La Gazette Rose amalgamated with Le Moniteur de la Mode.
