Banknote (proof), of Central Bank of Scotland

This one pound banknote is of the Central Bank of Scotland. It is a proof only and was never circulated. The spaces for the date and number have been left blank.

The top of the note is engraved with a view of Perth with a steamship on the River Tay in the foreground. The bottom of the note has a depiction of the Bank's head office.

The Central Bank of Scotland was established at Perth in 1834. It was purchased by the Bank of Scotland 34 years later.
