Bonnet, made in AyrshireThis fine linen baby bonnet is embroidered in the style known as Ayshire needlework. This style was introduced around 1814 and was used for baby robes and caps, for women's collars, dresses and handkerchiefs. Baby's bonnet: Scottish, Ayrshire Ayrshire needlework was copied from French designs and became a cottage industry for women, mainly in Ayrshire villages.
