Made at Musselburgh, East Lothian
This earthenware wall plaque has a relief profile bust thought to be the Duc d'Angouleme of France. The plaque was one of two made in 1834 at William Reid's pottery at Musselburgh in East Lothian. The other featured a bust of Charles X of France.
The rectangular plaque has a black frame around the central figure bust.
The Duc d'Angouleme and Charles X, members of the exiled French royal family, stayed in Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh for a period in 1830.
