This Glasgow Arms Bank one guinea banknote is dated 1 April 1778. The banknote is signed by John Robertson, Cashier and Ian Buchanan. It is printed on one side only.

The Glasgow Arms Bank opened with support from the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1750. It derived its name from the coat-of-arms of Glasgow which featured on its banknotes. Never particularly successful, it closed in 1793.
