This Edinburgh Medical College for Women's silver medal dates from around 1880. The medal was made by Edinburgh company Kirkwood and Son. Women were not allowed to study medicine alongside men at Scottish universities until 1899.

The medal is inscribed 'The Medical College for Women, Edinburgh'.
