From Finlaggan, Islay, Argyll
This is a fibreglass cast of a stone grave slab from Finlaggan on Islay in Argyll. The slab dates from between the 14th and early 16th century.
The slab has bevelled edges which are ornamented with a cable moulding and a plain moulding.
Carved stone graveslabs illustrate the Celtic or Gaelic tradition in Scotland. They are found throughout the West Highlands and were commissioned as memorials to important or influential people.
