Saut bucketThis redware saut (Scots for 'salt') bucket was made in 1871 at Cumnock Pottery in East Ayrshire. The bucket has a moulded hen on a nest and is marked 'From Cumnock Pottery 1871'. A pottery was originally established in Cumnock by James Taylor in 1794. In the second half of the 19th century, it became well known for its 'couthy' motto ware.
