Table fork

This table fork was part of a service assembled by several generations of the MacLeod of Geanies. The fork was made in the late 18th century in Calcutta by Hamilton and Co, using a king's pattern design by Morton of Edinburgh.

One of 21 table forks from a King's pattern service associated with the family of Sheriff Donald MacLeod of Geanies, Ross-shire : by Morton, Edinburgh, 1817

Items in the service are thought to have been commissioned by Duncan MacLeod, a lieutenant-general in the Bengal Army, and his son Donald Friel Macleod, a prominent administrator in the Indian Civil Service.
